Are you interested in having a different hanging plant? If so, read on to meet the Diascia, a very interesting botanical genre that will allow you to enjoy a unique and very special corner.
This is a type of plant that produces so many flowers that its leaves may be completely hidden by its petals. With this I tell you everything. Well, not all: the most important thing comes next 😉.
Origin and characteristics
Our protagonist is a plant that belongs to the genus Diascia. Native to southern Africa, can reach a height between 30 and 45 centimeters, with very thin and branched stems. The flowers appear in great numbers during the spring, and can be pink or red.
Its growth rate is very fast, so if you are in a hurry for your specimen to reach adulthood, you will not have to wait long 🙂. Anyway, we want it to last you for many, many years, so here's your care guide.
How do you take care of yourself?
La Diascia needs to be given these care:
- Location: place your plant outside, in semi-shade.
- Irrigation: between 3 and 5 times a week in summer, and every 3-4 days the rest of the year.
- Earth:
- Pot: universal growing substrate mixed with perlite in equal parts.
- Garden: it is indifferent, but it is important that you have good drainage since it does not tolerate waterlogging.
- Subscriber: from early spring to late summer with a specific fertilizer for flowering plants.
- Multiplication: Diascia multiplies by seeds in spring and by stolons in spring or summer.
- Rusticity: withstands light frosts down to -3ºC. If it is colder in your area, protect it in a room with plenty of natural light.
