Orange gerbera

The gerbera is a plant that produces beautiful daisy-shaped flowers. There are red, pink, yellow and of course orange. Although each and every one of them can be had for example on the balcony or to decorate the patio tables, the one with the petals dyed in orange tones is undoubtedly one of the most striking.

But Do you know how to take care of orange gerberas? If you just got one and want it to last for many years, don't miss this article 🙂.

How are they cared for?

Orange gerberas are lively herbaceous plants - they can last several years - native to South Africa, specifically the Transvaal. It reaches a height of about 30cm including the floral stem, making it perfect to have in any corner. But for it to last you several seasons it is important that you provide it with the following care:

  • Location:
    • Exterior: it has to be in semi-shade or in full sun, but if you live in the Mediterranean, I recommend protecting it from the star king during the central hours of the day.
    • Indoors: if you want to have it inside the home, place it in a room where a lot of natural light enters where it is away from drafts.
  • Earth:
    • Garden: it has to be fertile, with good drainage.
    • Pot: universal growing substrate mixed with 30% perlite.
  • Irrigation: 3-4 times a week in summer and every 2-3 days the rest of the year.
  • Subscriber: from spring to late summer with a liquid flower fertilizer.
  • Multiplication: by seeds in spring.
  • Rusticity: it does not support the cold, only very specific frosts of up to -1ºC. Ideally, it should not drop below 15ºC.

What meaning do they have?

Orange gerberas are great plants. Not only are they easy to care for but also the meaning of their color gives you very pleasant sensations. In fact, these flowers symbolize energy, enthusiasm and warmth, in addition to confidence, satisfaction and passion for life. They couldn't be better! 🙂
