They are the perfect size so that they can be grown in a pot throughout their life. Thus, they are ideal for decorating patios, terraces, balconies, or even the living room of the home. They do not require hardly any maintenance, since they do not usually have problems with pests, and as if that were not enough, easily reproduce by leaf cuttings. What more could you want?

They are known by the name of Adromischus, and they are very decorative succulent plants.

These little plants are native to South Africa. There are a total of 28 accepted species, belonging to the Crassulaceae family. Its leaves are fleshy (succulent), and can vary in color depending on the species, although all tend to take a mottled coloration if they are exposed directly to the sun. Its small flowers sprout from the center of each plant, and are spike-shaped.

They grow to a height of approximately 10cm. Once they are adults, they can occupy a pot of 20cm in diameter. It is, therefore, a small plant that it will look great in compositions of succulent plants or even those that are also combined with small cacti, in addition to being potted as a centerpiece.

In cultivation it is not, as we said, very demanding. Prefers to live in places where it receives direct sunlight throughout the day, but it will be enough if you give it 6h / day, for example, in the morning. For the rest, it is somewhat resistant to cold, being able to withstand short-term frosts of up to -2ºC.

If we talk about irrigation, this will have to be spaced: once a week in summer, and every 15 days the rest of the year. It can be used to fertilize, once a month, with a specific fertilizer for cacti and succulents, or using natural fertilizers such as guano.

As a substrate we will mix, for example, black peat, perlite and river sand in equal parts. In this way, we will greatly decrease the risk of rotting, a problem that tends to seriously harm you.

We hope these tips are useful to you 🙂.
