Origin and characteristics
Our protagonist it is an unbranched shrub endemic to the island of La Palma (Canary Islands) whose scientific name is Pozsgasok fine. It is popularly known as red bejeque, and its leaves are obovate to suborbicular, fleshy and large, up to 4-5cm long by 1-2cm wide. The flowers are grouped in large red inflorescences that emerge from the center of the rosette of leaves in summer, between June and September in the northern hemisphere.
