La ajuga reptans It is a rather small plant that blooms in abundance every spring and also has very interesting medicinal properties; in fact, it is as good for wound healing as for stomach problems.
Its maintenance is not very complicated, since as if that were not enough it can be multiplied by seeds in a simple way.
Origin and characteristics
Our protagonist is a herbaceous and perennial plant known as comfrey media, bugula, corocha, true sage or solda, native to Europe and North Africa to Iran. It develops stolons that reach up to 40 centimeters in length, and oblong and opposite green leaves. The flowers are grouped in very dense clusters, and are blue.
The growth rate is very fast, so much so that if conditions are favorable, it can flower the same year it is sown.
Uses
- Ornamental: due to its characteristics, the bugule is a very interesting plant to have in pots or planters, as well as in gardens.
- Medicinal: it has diuretic, carminative, healing, astringent, anti-hemorrhoidal and febrifuge properties.
What are their cares?
If you want to have a copy, we recommend that you provide it with the following care:
- Location: it must be outside, in full sun.
- Earth: not demanding. It grows in all types of soils, although if it has good drainage it will have a better development.
- Irrigation: in summer it has to be watered trying to prevent the soil from drying out completely, but the rest of the year about two weekly waterings will suffice.
- Subscriber: throughout the growing season, that is, in spring and summer, it is highly advisable to fertilize with organic and / or ecological products, such as compost, guano (for sale here), manure or egg and banana peels.
- Multiplication: by seeds in spring.
- Rusticity: resistant up to -8ºC.
