An original planter made with glass jars

Planter made with jars

A few days ago I was browsing the Internet looking for ideas to decorate the garden when I came across this idea to put into practice.

I liked it a lot, perhaps because of its originality and because it allows you to create a beautiful corner in any place that has a wall to stand out.

Do it yourself

Planters made with glass jars

If you like vertical gardens You can start with a simple project such as this planter made with disused glass jars. It is a novel but very beautiful idea because in it you can place different varieties of plants and flowers to add color to the gray walls.

The elements to consider are quite basic: several old jars that can be jam, mayonnaise or similar; a wooden strip, sandpaper, a cleaning brush, various tools, hooks for hanging, metal plates.

Let's do it

The first thing is to clean the wood with a brush, sand it if necessary and paint it if you wish or varnish it to protect it from the rain and thus preserve it.

Glass bottles

Once this work is done, the most difficult part comes, which is to work with the metal plates to create rings the size of the mouth of the jars so that they can be attached to the wood. You can do it with the right tools but if you think it is too complicated you can entrust the work to someone who works with metals.

Once the jars are ready, you just have to fasten them with screws to the wood, always keeping the same separation between bottle and bottle. When they are ready you must place two hooks on the top of the wood and a rope that joins them to finally hang the planter.

It is very nice, but I cannot make holes in the base to drain the water, or is it not necessary?
