Origin and characteristics
Our protagonist is a palm tree whose scientific name is Attalea, although it is popularly known as babaçu. It is native to Brazil, Guyana and Bolivia. It grows to a height of 20 meters, with a single thin trunk 25 to 40 centimeters in diameter.. The leaves are pinnate, with the leaflets arranged in the same plane, and can measure 3-4 meters long. The flowers are grouped in inflorescences that are born between the leaves. The fruit is between 6 and 12cm long, and contains 3-6 ellipsoid-oblong seeds.
It is very decorative. Whether it is grown in small or large gardens, it is one of those plants that you are forced to see every time you pass by how beautiful it is.
What are their cares?

- Location:
- Exterior: from young to semi-shade, once adult it can tolerate direct sun.
- Interior: Attalea can be grown in a bright room, away from drafts.
- Earth:
- Pot: universal growing substrate mixed with 20% perlite and another 10% worm castings.
- Garden: fertile, with good drainage.
- Irrigation: 3-4 times a week during the hottest months, and slightly less the rest of the year.
- Subscriber: during the warm months it has to be paid with organic fertilizers, once a month.
- Multiplication: by seeds in spring.
- Rusticity: it is sensitive to cold and frost. It can only be grown outdoors all year round if the temperature does not drop below 4ºC.
