Beware of poisonous plants!

Castor

I remember when I was a child and my mother forced me to stay away from certain plants with the idea that they were poisonous. I never knew if it was true or if someone had told him that this or that fruit could cause poisoning.

The truth is that beyond memories, nature is generous but it also has its twists and turns. And so it is that although for the most part the plants do not present problems we must be careful with some of them. There are certain poisonous plants that have great health consequences and they can even cause death.

List of plants

Among the most veined plants in the world is the Tejo, a plant whose leaves, branches, and wood contain taxin, a highly toxic alkaloid that causes seizures, hypotension, and ultimately death. Except for the wrapping of the attractive red fruit, everything in the Yew is very dangerous and has even been used as an abortifacient technique.

Tejo

El Castor it is also a poisonous bush. It has thick stem and is purple in color so it looks deceptive but castor bean juice is fierce. It is said that it is enough to impregnate one end of something sharp to cause fatal injuries.

Belladona It is the name of another poisonous bush that in Ancient Egypt was used as a narcotic. It generates hallucinations and that is why in the Middle Ages it was associated with witchcraft.

El American liquorice It is a climbing plant with which you also have to be careful as it can cause death. It causes vomiting, fever, seizures, and gastrointestinal disorders. It was used to cause abortions and also to eliminate intestinal parasites.

Oleander

Finally, there are the Hemlock and Oleander, the latter of beautiful and treacherous pink flowers. If the Hemlock is ingested, digestive disorders, vertigo, a drop in body temperature and ascending paralysis are observed, which can lead to death. In the case of Oleander, something similar happens although ingestion can cause cardiac arrest in addition to vomiting, seizures and vertigo.

Cares and precautions

To avoid scares, investigate what poisonous plants exist in the area where you live and also look for those that are indoors and those that are outdoors. Avoid getting close to them, touching them, and handling them. And take care that children are not near these plants that are so risky for health.
