Our protagonist is an evergreen tree native to eastern Australia whose scientific name is acacia melanoxylon. It is an imposing plant, which can reach 45 meters in height, although the normal thing is that it does not exceed 15m.

Its crown is dense and pyramidal to cylindrical, composed of evergreen leaves that can be bipinnate (in young specimens) or lanceolate, 7-10cm long and greyish to blackish-green (in adult specimens). The flowers are pale yellow in color and are arranged in globular heads. The fruit is a reddish-brown pod inside which we will find rounded, black seeds, 2-3mm long.
