Fireweed (Bupleurum fruticosum)

Bupleurum fruticosum

The oleander, whose scientific name is Bupleurum fruticosumIt is a beautiful garden shrub: it produces so many flowers that they want to hide the leaves. The contrast between the green and the deep yellow makes it look very, very pretty.

As if that were not enough, its maintenance and care are not complicated. Dare to know her.

Origin and characteristics

Bupleurum fruticosum

Our protagonist is an endemic shrub from the Mediterranean region. It is known as oleander, and its scientific name is Bupleurum fruticosum, and it is characterized by reaching 3-4 meters in height. The leaves are whole, glabrous, leathery and oblong or linear-elliptical. In summer it produces large terminal umbels of yellow flowers, which attract a lot of attention both to people and beneficial insects in the garden (such as bees).

Its growth rate is medium-fast; that is, it grows about 5-10cm per year more or less, depending on the climate and the care it receives. To achieve this, we explain how to take care of it.

What are their cares?
