What is La Allamanda like?

Leaves and flowers of the Allamanda blanchetii

It is a evergreen climbing plant (that is, it remains evergreen) native to South and Central America. Reaches a height 2-3 meters, with lanceolate, opposite and leathery leaves about 5-7cm long. The flowers are a real wonder: they are trumpet-shaped, measure between 5 and 7,5 cm in diameter and can be white, purple, pink or orange.

Due to its characteristics it is a plant perfect to have in a pot throughout his life, in a very bright room for example. It can be very good if it is provided with some support so that it can cover an arch that is in the house, or the frame of a window or door. Of course, it is important to bear in mind that its leaves are toxic: they can cause vomiting and diarrhea if ingested.

What are their cares?
