The attractiveness of his work is that starting from the same fragrances and profile of the old roses in his garden create beautiful new specimens, but with reflowering and modern colors.

In the early 50s, David Austin was an amateur farmer and set out to make the most beautiful rose. Since then his vision continues, as he has established a world-renowned collection. The flowers in his garden are beautiful, with extraordinary perfumes that are treasured in elegant bushes and difficult to match for their showiness and exuberance.

Although bodies such as the Royal National Rose Society and the American Rose Society have not yet officially recognized their cultures as a separate class, the interested in roses and experts in the matter, if they appreciate the value of all those that have originated in their nurseries and dealt with in horticultural literature such as Austin Roses.

The flower artist

David Charles Henshaw Austin was born in Shropshire, England, on February 16, 1926, being the writer and consequent new rose maker.

It became known for the cultivation and development of flowers similar to ancient roses such as Albas, Damascenes, Gallicas among others, within a wide range of colors and flowers. David's nascent species was a strong-scented solid rose that hit the market in 1960.

Then he introduced the rose named 'Constance Spry' in 1963, four years later 'Chianti', in 1968 'Shropshire Lass', whose roses they bloomed only once in spring and early summer. But in 1969 other varieties such as 'Wife of Bath' and 'Canterbury' emerged, both to pay tribute to the English author Geoffrey Chaucer, becoming the largest production of the XNUMXth century.

At the beginning of the XNUMXst century, Austin divided his roses into four groups describing each one as follows: the English Alba Hybrids (blue leaves like Alba roses); the English Musk Roses (inspired by the pale green Noisette and Iceberg flowers); the Old Rose Hybrids (vigorous and in different colors); the Leander Group (large climber that can even be planted in pots).
