The three most important genres are Geranium, Erodium and Pelrgonium, the latter the most cultivated in the world and that is why today we will dedicate ourselves to it.

Secrets of its cultivation

Beyond the varieties of the genus Pelrgonium, these geraniums share needs when it comes to being cultivated. They need to grow in environments with temperatures up to 25 ° C, in full sun and in ventilated places although not with very strong drafts. These geraniums they cannot stand temperatures that are too low, below 15 ° C.

On the other hand, they need a regular watering so that the earth is moistened. When you notice that it dries, it is time to carry out a new watering, this during the hottest months because in autumn and winter it is best to water just and necessary avoiding the soil from drying out too much.

Care

After sowing them it is important remove top layer of soil from time to time to remove the surface crust and allow the plant to absorb the water properly as well as helping the deeper substrate to breathe.

Recommended transplant geraniums every year and always in spring, renewing the substrate and thus helping the plant. In doing so, shake off the roots to remove all the old substrate and prune off overgrown roots using very clean scissors.
