What do I need to grow wheat germ?
In order to have an excellent harvest, it is important to first sow the seeds in the most suitable place using the appropriate tools. Therefore, before starting you have to prepare everything you will need, which in this case is:
- Rectangular pot or planter
- Universal growing substrate
- Strainer
- Bicarbonate of soda
- Chlorine-free cold water
- Sprayer or watering can
- Organic wheat seeds (untreated)
Once everything is ready, you can move on to the most interesting part of all.
Wheat cultivation step by step
- The first thing to do is clean the seeds with water and then soak them for 12 hours. After that time you can remove them with a strainer.
- Then you have to fill the pot or planter with universal growing substrate for plants, almost completely. The level of the soil must be 0,5cm or less below the edge of the pot.
- Now the seeds are scattered on the surface of the pot. As they are very fast growing plants, it is especially necessary to avoid adding too many. Ideally, they should be at least 1cm apart.
- Then you have to cover them with a very thin layer of substrate.
- And finally, you have to place the pot in full sun and keep the soil moist.
