How is the cultivation in planters?

Wooden planter

Planters are very practical when you want to grow a larger number of plants, as they also allow us to take more advantage of the space we have. But for everything to go smoothly it is important that we know which are those plant beings that we can plant (or sow) in them, since otherwise the season will most likely not be as productive as we expect.

So if you have doubts, then we are going to tell you how is the cultivation in planters.

What can be planted / sown in the planters?

Tomato

Who said that it was necessary to have a garden to be able to harvest delicious fruits and / or plants? There are many horticultural or orchard that we can grow in the planters, such as the following:

  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Chard
  • Peppers
  • Cabbages
  • Leeks
  • Eggplants
  • Aromatic herbs

And if they are very deep (50 centimeters or more), we can also grow potatoes, carrots and zucchini.

How to cultivate them so that they grow well?

Watering can

Now that we know which plants we can grow in planters, it's time to find out how to care for and maintain them:

  • Location: we must put the planters outside, in full sun.
  • Substratum: we will first put a layer of gravel so that the drainage is good, and then we will fill them with a specific substrate for the garden or we can mix 60% black peat with 30% compost and 10% perlite.
  • Plantation: in spring. You do not have to put the plants too close together since doing so will not make them grow correctly. Therefore, we will leave a minimum distance of 10cm between them.
  • Irrigation: it must be frequent. We will water 3-4 times a week, trying to prevent the substrate from remaining dry.
  • Subscriber: throughout the season it is highly recommended to pay with liquid organic fertilizers, following the indications specified on the packaging.

All in all, we can enjoy an excellent harvest.
