Check the humidity of the substrate
The easiest way to know when to water your potted plants is by checking the humidity of the substrate, in any of these ways:
- Weigh the pot once watered and again after a few daysWet soil weighs more than dry soil, so this difference in weight can serve as a guide.
- Using a digital moisture meter: when introduced into the ground, it will instantly tell us what degree of humidity it has. To make it more reliable, it is advisable to introduce it in other areas (further from the plant, closer).
- If the pot is terracotta, we will give it a few taps: If it sounds hollow, you have to water.
- Nail a pencil or a thin wooden stick: if when removing it, it comes out with a lot of adhering soil, we will not water.
