The laurel is a shrub or tree It is an evergreen plant native to the Mediterranean area that reaches a height of 5 to 10 meters. Its leaves are lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, somewhat leathery. These are used a lot as a condiment in cooking.

It blooms in spring and bears fruit shortly thereafter. The fruits, which are ovoid berries of 10-15mm, black in color, ripen in early fall. And it will be precisely then when they can be sown, although they can also be stored until spring in a cool, dry place protected from the sun.

How is it sown?

To get a specimen of laurel, you have to follow this step by step:

  1. First, the shell must be removed and the seed cleaned well, preferably with a scouring pad, water and a drop of dishwasher.
  2. Second, a pot of about 10,5 cm in diameter is taken and filled with universal growing substrate.
  3. Third, it is watered thoroughly, so that it is well soaked.
  4. Fourth, the seed is placed in the center and covered with a thin layer of substrate.
  5. Fifth and last, it is watered again, this time with a sprayer.

Thus, keeping the substrate moist (but not waterlogged) will germinate in 1-2 months.
