How to care for begonias

Begonia

If you want to have a plant bella with some beautiful flowers, the begonia it is the ideal choice.

This plant, as we mentioned, stands out for its flowers, but also for its foliage: its leaves are, in general, oval and fleshy, and some species even have a certain succulence in their stems and leaves, that is, the ability to store water and moisture in those parts.

Beyond the differences between species, the vast majority are between 30 and 40 centimeters tall. These qualities are what give their appearance a variegated character, which makes them desirable for designers and general garden enthusiasts.

If this is your case, we offer you a series of important tips for caring for begonia:

-        La begonia Needs a light earth and rich in humus. The most convenient is a mixture of peat, bark and sand (the latter to a lesser extent than the first two).

      -     You must keep the substrate always moist, not flooded, since its biggest problem is that the stems rot due to excess watering. To prevent it, you  we recommend water the plant always below, that is, putting the pot on a saucer with water for a while and then remove the water.

      - The temperature ideal for its development is between 18 and 26ºC.

     - You also have to ensure that the plant is in a place with good light but protected by a light shade, since, if the sun hits your fabrics directly, it will most likely burn them.

     - It is also advisable to protect the plant from drafts.

       -  Multiplication is easily done through cuttings.
