Hyacinth characteristics
The hyacinth, which belongs to the botanical genus Hyacinthus, is native to Asia Minor. It grows to a height of about 20-25cm, and its inflorescence which is spike-shaped, sprouts in spring filling with small flowers lilacs, blue, white, pink, red ...
Due to its characteristics, it is recommended more as a potted plant than as a garden plant, but the truth is that when many bulbs are planted together in the ground, a spectacular colored carpet is created. In any case, you choose the location you choose, it is important that it receives direct sunlight, at least 5h / day, since otherwise its development would not be adequate. Too can be kept indoors, in a very bright room, away from windows and drafts.
As substrate it is preferable to use black peat with perlite in equal parts, and always keep it slightly damp, avoiding waterlogging. Thus, we will water about 2 times a week, except on the days that it rains; In other words, if it is time to water on Monday and it rains that day, we will wait for Saturday. To avoid fungus, we will sprinkle with fungicide -may be copper lainco or sulfur- above the bulbs.
After flowering, you can choose to continue having the bulb in the pot, without watering it, or for removing the bulb and storing it in a dark and dry place.
