How to care for indoor plants in the fall

Inside plants

During the months that lie ahead after having had a great summer, there will be many tasks that we will have to carry out in the garden, but also in our homes.

Little by little our flowers are slowing down their growth rate, thus beginning to save energy that will help them overcome the winter. So let's see how to care for indoor plants in autumn.

Irrigation

One of the most frequent problems we face when it comes to caring for plants is overwatering. Although during the summer they need to be watered often in order to grow and develop properly, in autumn we have to space out the waterings each time. Indoor plants in autumn begin, little by little, to enter a kind of "plant hibernation", in which when the time comes they will only use energy to stay alive, stopping their growth until temperatures exceed 15ºC again.

Irrigation, therefore, will have to be occasional. Inside homes, substrates take much longer to dry than if they were exposed to direct sunlight. A) Yes, we will water only when we see it dry, which can be once a week or every 10 days.

Pruning

Pruning in the fall, in the case of the topic at hand, is really not very necessary. But, if you want to reproduce evergreen shrubs, succulent plants or even climbing plants, it is a good time to make cuttings. To do this, cut a stem of about 10cm in length (in the case of succulent plants, it will be enough to take one or two leaves), and plant it in a pot with a very porous substrate. Keep it in a bright location, and you will see how in spring you will have a new plant.

It will also be very necessary remove dry leaves and wilted flowers.
