How to cut aloe vera leaves

Aloe vera

Who has not ever wondered how to cut aloe vera leaves to be able to enjoy its incredible healing properties? As with everything, you have to know how to do it, and above all do it well so as not to damage the plant.

This time I am going to explain to you step by step how to make a perfect cut, that it will not harm your aloe, and that on the contrary it will benefit, and much, your health.

The first thing you should do is make sure the plant is adult. To help you in this task, you should know that an adult Aloe vera will measure about 40cm in height, and approximately the same in "width"; Besides, it will already flourish. If your plant is smaller, it is most likely that it is not yet the right age to start taking advantage of its leaves. But that is not a problem, because an adult specimen has an economic cost of less than 10 euros (If you go to a nursery specialized in cacti, it is very likely that you will find it for 4 or 5 euros).

Once you have it, you have to select the most mature leaves, which will be the ones in the outermost part. To cut them, you just have to take a sharp knife, and access the base of the blade, the one closest to the main stem. Now you just have to make a cut, from side to side.

Finally you can put them in an opaque glass jar and keep them in the refrigerator, or you can extract the gel. How? Very easy: put it vertically, and cut it crosswise. Thus, it will be very easy for you to peel one side of the sheet, which will reveal the gel that you can remove with a tablespoon.

Hello, I am currently cutting very small pieces of a sheet for each day, to heal a wound on my heel. Because if I cut it at once, it still breaks down, right? Although it is still doing more damage to the plant. If I cut the entire leaf and extract the gel, how do I keep it so that it lasts as long as possible and how long will it be? Thanks a lot…

      Hello Roger.

Actually, it is indifferent 🙂. You can keep cutting small pieces of them. But yes: when you have healed, give him time to recover something that he will do quickly.

      Greetings.
