How to keep seeds at home

Marigold seeds

It often happens that, due to our lifestyle, we forget that the time to plant that plant that we love so much has simply passed. When we find ourselves in this situation, what do we have to do?

Well, we will have no choice but to keep them until next season. But, How to keep the seeds at home so that they last longer?

The first and most important thing to do is keep them away from light and humidity, so, If they are seeds that we have just taken from some freshly eaten fruit, before storing them, they must be cleaned well, conscientiously, removing any trace of the pulp. Then, to prevent the appearance of fungi, we must sprinkle them with copper or sulfur, which are two very effective natural fungicides, and leave them like that for a week, in a dry place.

Once we have the seeds ready, we can prepare the container where we are going to keep them. It can be anything: a tupper, a wooden box, a bag, but for better preservation we recommend that it be a tupper with a lid. Regardless of what we use we do not have to fill it with soil, since if we did, the seeds would run the risk of spoiling. What we must do is keep the container in a place protected from sunlight, for example, inside a drawer.
