How to sow grass?

Grass landscape

Do you dream of having a garden as beautiful as the one seen in the image above? Now you can get it in a simple way. Grass is a very hardy herb that grows quickly and requires little maintenance.

You can buy it at any nursery or online gardening store at interesting prices, to the point of 1kg of seeds you can get for about ten euros. While you wait for them to arrive, read on to find out how to sow grass.

The first thing you have to do is prepare the ground. For this you have to remove grass and stones there is, so that the floor looks clean. In this way, the seeds will be able to germinate much better by not having competitors or impediments that hinder their normal development. And, even if they are all-terrain plants, if things are made easy for them, it will cost much less to have a beautiful green carpet 🙂.

Once you have done this, you have to pass the tiller. The first layer of the soil must be broken in order to improve it, especially if it has been eroded, or if it has been worked very intensively. In this way, after you can pay it with organic compost, like horse manure, adding a layer about 3-5cm thick.

Now, you have to level the ground well with a rake, install the irrigation system and sow. How are the seeds sown? They are very small and the terrain can be quite large, so if it is done in the most conventional way, that is, to place them in rows, it would take a lot of work; so the best thing is to take a handful, and with the palm of the hand pointing towards the sky, spread them trying not to leave piles.

Finally, the only thing you will have left is start the irrigation system daily and enjoy watching them grow. In no time you will have a beautiful lawn.

    Hello,

I am thinking of planting grass in the Toledo area. My question is if now would still be a good time to sow and germinate correctly.

    Thank you very much.

      Hello José Ramón.
It is better to wait for spring 🙂. Now autumn is coming and with it, the first frosts, so you could easily burn.
      A greeting.
