Being from a place as warm as South Africa, the Plumbago does not feel too well the cold (only up to -4ºC), but the high temperatures do. So much so that it can withstand + 30ºC without problems. In addition, it is highly recommended to plant it in a place where it is directly exposed to the sun, since although it can grow well in semi-shade, its flowering can be poor.
How do you take care of yourself?
The Plumbago is not a demanding plant. It grows in all types of soils, including calcareous, as long as it does not lack moisture. Indeed, the waterings have to be frequent, especially in summer, so It will be watered 3-4 times a week during the mentioned season, and 1-2 weekly the rest of the year.. Take the opportunity to fertilize it with, for example, guano so that it grows and develops better from spring to autumn.
And by the way, do not forget to ask preventive treatments with insecticides such as Neem Oil, as it is attacked by mites, mealybugs and aphids.
