It is native to Paraguay, where it has a mild climate all year round, a fact that makes its resistance to cold is low. But that is not a problem, because can be inside the home where there is plenty of light throughout the year, or only in the winter months.

If it is to be held abroad, it is important protect it from direct sun, especially in hot climates, where the mercury in the thermometer rises above 30ºC. Otherwise, we will plant it in corners that have partial shade. For it, we will use peat black for sale in nurseries, to which we will have added 10% perlite. Thus, we will make sure that the substrate does not get flooded after watering, avoiding root rot.

Stevia is a very resistant plant, which does not usually have problems with pests or diseases. Although as prevention is better than cure, throughout the vegetative season -from spring to early fall- you will be treated with Neem oil or garlic extracts.

Likewise, you will also be given Organic fertilizers once a month, such as worm humus or horse manure, which will keep the plant's defense system in perfect health. Thus, the growth and development of your Stevia will be optimal.
