Jasmine care

Jasminum polyanthum

Among the group of ornamental climbers whose characteristic is precisely its extraordinary beauty, we have one that is very popular in gardens. The aroma of its flowers is very pleasant, so much so that it is able to captivate many of us.

To all this must be added that the care of the jasmine, our protagonist, do not require previous experience in the care of plants, making it very suitable for beginners and amateurs.

Jasmine officinale

Jasmine is a climbing plant native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Europe, Asia and also the African continent. Depending on the climate, it can behave as evergreen, deciduous, or semi-evergreen (that is, it does not lose all its leaves). It is an ideal plant for garden or indoorsas long as there is plenty of light.

The amazing scented flower plant does not grow much, in fact its total height is about five meters. But not if you have it climbing a four meter tree, it will adapt to it without problems. Now let's talk about the care you need.

Although jasmine is very easy to grow, in order for it to develop properly, it must have a mild climate, with light frosts (down to three below zero). If you live in an area with cold winters, It is highly recommended that you have it in a pot to be able to enter it as soon as the temperatures begin to drop, and remove it with the arrival of spring.

It adapts to all types of floors, including those of the calcareous-clayey type, but if you are going to have it in a pot it is preferable that you add a little perlite to the substrate (a handful will be enough).

Jasminum multiflorum

There are no known pests or major diseases, but as a precaution you can apply Neem Oil throughout the growing season (spring to late summer or early fall) to avoid being affected by pesky parasites.

And with this, and a watering every four or five days, you will get a jasmine that will give you a lot of flowers.
