Our protagonist is a plant native to Asia, mainly China and Japan, which grows to a height of 4-5 meters. Its leaves are small, about 3cm long, with a very marked central vein, green or bronze depending on the variety, with an oval shape and alternate arrangement. The curious flowers, which sprout in late winter and early spring, are very reminiscent of the shape of spiders, and are pink or white.

How do you take care of yourself?

If you want to have a copy, give it the following care and it will always be as beautiful as the first day 😉:

  • Location: outdoors, in full sun or in semi-shade.
  • Soil or substrate: it must be slightly acidic, with a pH of 5 to 6. It does not grow well in limestone soils, with a pH of 7 or higher.
  • Irrigation: you have to let the land dry between waterings.
  • Planting or transplanting time: in spring.
  • Pruning: late winter. The diseased, dry or weak stems have to be removed, and those that have grown too much have to be trimmed, giving the crown a more or less oval shape.
  • Subscriber: From spring to late summer it can be fertilized with organic fertilizers, such as manure.
  • Multiplication: by cuttings taken in summer, or by seeds in spring.
  • Rusticity: withstands cold and frosts down to -3ºC.
