The magnolia tree is a tree that many makes us think that it needs space to be able to develop and grow due to the dimensions it reaches once it reaches adulthood, but the truth is that although it grows to a height of thirty meters, its crown diameter can be reduced by pruning made in late fall or early spring. Even over time it has a tendency to adopt a pyramidal shape.
M. 'Vulcan'
It is native to the American continent and Asia. In both it is found growing above 2300m of altitude above sea level. To enjoy its flowers, we will have to wait for the summer, but the flowering season will last until well into autumn, thus allowing us to contemplate them for several weeks.
M. stellata
The flowers are quite large if we compare them with those that trees usually have. They have a diameter between 5 and 10cm. These remain open for a very short time, but it blooms in such quantity that it is something that is not really a problem.
Put a magnolia tree in your garden if you live in a temperate climate, that is to say: cool winters and mild summers (with temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees), and if the land has a low pH -between 4 and 6-. This is a tree that, if planted in limestone soil, will present iron deficiencies, something that will cause the leaves to have iron chlorosis.
There are no known potentially dangerous pests or diseases, but don't forget to pay it with an organic fertilizer throughout the growth period so that it enjoys a good state of health.
