nepenthes miranda

Carnivorous plants are a type of plants that attract special attention, since at first no one would say that plant beings are capable of digesting the bodies of animals ... directly from their »stomach» (traps). But the truth is that ... they had no choice! In their places of origin they find so little nutrients in the soil that they either hunt or die. And the nephentes miranda it is one of the most attractive.

No, I'm not saying it (well, maybe I did 🙂), but the color of his traps is really spectacular. Also, it looks great as a hanging plant. But, Do you know how to take care of it?

Origin and characteristics

nepenthes miranda

Our protagonist is a carnivorous plant fruit of the cross between the nephentes maxima and nephentes northiana. Its scientific name is Nephentes x Miranda, although it is better known without the »x» in between: nephentes miranda. Its leaves are simple, lanceolate, green in color and with a visible midrib, and are up to 30cm long. The traps are pale green with reddish-brown spots and a nearly vertical mouth.

It is included in the classification of lowland, intermediate and sometimes highland carnivores, due to the provenance of its 'parents'.
