Origin and characteristics
Our protagonist is a plant known as decorative pepper, decorative chili pepper or ornamental pepper whose scientific name is Capsicum annum. It is an annual plant native to Central America that reaches a height of 30 to 40cm, with simple and whole leaves 5-8cm long. The flowers, which bloom in spring-summer, are simple and white. The fruit is about 2-3cm long and can be purple, red or white.
It has a fairly fast growth rate and its cultivation is very simple, so it will not give us any problems. In any case, so that there is no room for doubts, we are going to see how it is taken care of in detail.
How do you take care of yourself?
If we want to get a copy, we recommend providing the following care:
- Location:
- Indoor: in a room with a lot of light.
- Outside: in full sun.
- Substratum: can be planted in universal growing medium mixed with perlite in equal parts.
- Irrigation: every 2 or 3 days, avoiding waterlogging. In the case of having a plate placed underneath, the excess water must be removed ten minutes after watering.
- Subscriber: in spring and summer with liquid guano, following the indications specified on the product packaging.
- Planting or transplanting time: in spring, when the risk of frost has passed.
