Palm trees for bright rooms

Chamaedorea elegans

If last week we learned to retrieve a sick indoor palm tree, this time I'm going to show you which are the best palm trees for bright rooms, and so you can enjoy its beauty also in your home, and even in the bedroom.

Would you like to know about them? Keep reading.

But before we get down to business, let me give you some good news: all the palm trees that you will find in nurseries and garden centers can be indoors. Although of course, not all of them will be ideal for all rooms, so this time we are going to talk about those that, since they need a lot of light, are perfect for those very bright areas.

Areca (Dypsis lutescens)

Dypsis lutescens

And we will start with the one that needs the most light, which is the areca. Also called the yellow palm tree because of the color that its trunk acquires, it is scientifically known as Dypsis lutescens, and as an indoor palm tree it will look great in bedrooms or living rooms with lots of (natural) light. As it has a rapid growth, it is advisable to move it to a new slightly larger pot as soon as seven days have passed since the purchase, and as long as the temperature is pleasant; otherwise we will wait for the following spring.

kentia (Howea forsteriana)

Howea belmoreana

La Kentia, whose scientific name is Howea forsteriana, is one of the most popular indoor palm trees, as it is reasonably well adapted to living in low-light areas. Now, when it comes to coloring a very bright room, it is highly recommended to put a kentia. I'll tell you why: it is slow growing which means that you will not have to change it very often, it needs less water than other species, and it is more resistant. What more could you want?

Living room palm tree (Chamedorea elegans)

Chamaedorea

La living room palm tree, or more scientifically known by the name of Chamaedorea elegans, It is a very interesting palm tree, not only for the living room, but also for any room, including those with a lot of light. Suitable for beginners due to its easy maintenance, it will grow without problems in a corner of your home.

And which one do you prefer? Do you have any at home?
