View of the plant and flowers of Phlomis fruticosa

When you live in an area where rainfall is rather scarce, it is best to always look for plants that can grow without little water, such as Phlomis fruticosa. This lovely vivacious sprouts and blooms every year, producing very striking yellow flowers.

Its leaves are very reminiscent of Salvia, which is why it is known as Yellow Salvia. Easy to grow and maintain, having the odd specimen is always a good idea 🙂.

It is a lively plant that grows to a meter or 1,2m. It has two types of leaves: the lower ones are 3-9cm long and have an elliptical or lanceolate shape, while the upper ones are smaller. All of them are green and velvety. The flowers, which sprout in summer, are yellow, measure about 3cm, and appear in whorls, which are a set of three or more flowers or petals that are in the same plane around a stem.

It has a fairly fast growth rate. What's more, it doesn't take much to stay pretty, but let's see it in more detail below.
