How to plant rosemary in the garden

Rosmarinus officinalis

Do you live in a rather dry and hot climate and would you like to have a resistant plant? If so, I recommend the romero, which is an aromatic plant with very pretty lilac-bluish flowers. In addition to withstanding drought and high temperatures, due to its height it can even be used as a low hedge.

She is very grateful, but to beautify the place from day one, you have to know how to plant rosemary.

Things you should know about rosemary before planting it in the garden

Rosemary flowers

Before planting it, however, we need to know some of its main characteristics, starting with its adult dimensions. Rosemary is a slow-growing plant that can grow up to 2m tall, although in cultivation it is rarely allowed to grow more than 50cm. It takes up little space: about 40cm long by 30-35cm wide, although these dimensions may vary if its growth is controlled by pruning.

If we talk about its leaves, they are perennial, that is to say, they are falling out throughout the year as new ones appear. For this reason, some people may not like the idea of planting it close to, for example, the pool, although it can look great in the picnic area.

It is also important to know what climates it supports, since if we put it outside in an area where the minimum temperatures are too low, it will not support it. So, you should know that rosemary that grows in warm-temperate climates, with frosts down to -4ºC.
