Terrifying plants

Plant in Jumanji

A scene from Jumanji, 1995.

With Halloween hovering over our heads, I wanted to find one terrifying plant for the date and, as Nature (fortunately) does not offer us any gore enough, I have found them in the Movies.

I leave you one movie selection (with links to their technical sheets, photos, trailers, anecdotes ...) with the plants as evil protagonists, so you can enjoy Halloween in the purest style jardinería ON

  • The invasion of the body thieves. 1956. Don Siegel. USA. My favorite in this selection. A classic in horror movies. Vegetable pods are invading the Earth. Who is human and who is not? Who can be trusted? It had a remake in 1978, Invasion of the Ultrabodies, by Philip Kaufman, more gimmicky and less disturbing.
  • The little shop of horrors. 1960. Roger Corman. USA. One of the most famous B movies in history, where a young Jack Nicholson stands out. A mysterious plant becomes the attraction of the town. It had a remake in 1986.
  • The attack of the killer tomatoes. 1978. John De Bello. USA. Horror and comedy come together in this low-budget cult film, considered one of the worst films ever. We have to see it. A group of genetically modified tomatoes revolts and begins to attack the population.
  • Creep show. 1982. George A. Romero. USA. The father of zombie movies directs these five horror stories set within a comic. Among them, "The lonely death of Jordy Verrill", with a farmer who discovers a strange meteorite that contains a plant organism.
  • The tutor. 1990. William Friedkin. USA. The new babysitter might be perfect, but an old tree seems to haunt her.
  • Jumanji. 1995. Joe Johnston. USA. Nightmare carnivorous plants.
  • The incident. 2008. M. Night Shyamalan. United States and India. When a series of catastrophic deaths begins to plague America's great cities, science professor Eliot Moore and his wife Alma leave Philadelphia to escape the intriguing phenomenon.
  • The ruins. 2008. Carter Smith. USA. Terrifying ivy in the Mayan ruins. Suspense with gore scenes.

Above all, do not miss the invasion of the body thieves, a classic from 56 in black and white, very good.
