The cultivation tables

cultivating table

Grow tables are a alternative to flower pots for our orchard at home. Made of wood or metal, commercial or handmade, it is a raised container on four legs, which usually has wheels to facilitate its transfer.

Su height helps us to work on them in a way more comfortable and less resentful for our back. There are tables of different heights, so that even the children could collaborate in the garden tasks at home.

Among its and advantagesSince the base is not in contact with the ground, it aerates better and the substrate does not overheat. In addition, in the cultivation tables, it is easy to install a drip irrigation, and by having wheels, we can guide it where the conditions are most suitable.

Pot or growing table, it's a matter of preference. There are those who prefer one plant per pot, because it better controls its needs and development. There are those who opt for tables, because they are more comfortable to handle and more like their management to a mini-garden.

Regarding substratumFor table cultivation, a mixture of worm humus (40%) and coconut fiber (60%) is recommended.

El earthworm humus, is generated thanks to the decomposing action of the California earthworm (Eisenia phoetida) that by digesting natural manure, aerates and increases soil fertility. The coconut fiber, comes from the recycling of coconut shell and has exceptional characteristics such as: capacity to store nutrients, good aeration and neutral pH, which translates into optimal conditions for the growth of plants on our cultivation table.

Before starting to work with our cultivation table, we will organize the space according to the species that we are going to plant or sow. The tables are ideal for planting different plants. There are groups that work very well together. Now that autumn is approaching, a good association for this next season is the combination of lettuce, chard, spinach and cabbage (larger), with carrots and onions, which, due to their smaller size, we can intersperse among the former.
