Tulips are one of the most beloved bulbous plants of spring. They produce flowers so beautiful and elegant that they could well look like a plant from children's stories. Having a few is always a source of joy, since they are very easy to care for, but… how are they planted?

Whether we want to have a carpet of magnificent flowers or if we would like to have one decorating a table, we recommend writing down these tips for planting tulips.

When are tulips planted?

For everything to go smoothly, it is important to know when the tulip bulbs have to be planted. As they are plants that bloom in spring, the ideal is buy them during the fall, ideal time to plant them. Now, we will not be able to do it in any corner since to be able to produce flowers they need a lot of light, hence they have to be exposed to the rays of the sun for at least 4 hours a day.

How are they planted?

If you have doubts about how they are planted, don't worry. You just have to follow this step by step:

  1. The first thing you have to do is measure the height of the bulb. Once you know how tall he is, multiply his height by two. The result that it gives you will be the depth to which you must plant it.
  2. Prepare the place where you are going to grow it:
    • Garden: you have to remove stones and herbs, in addition to leveling the ground and placing an anti-weed mesh in which you will make holes (where the bulbs will be).
    • Pot or planter: it must be filled with universal growing substrate mixed with 30% perlite.
  3. Then you have to plant it. If you have several, put them at a distance of about 3cm.
  4. Finally, water.

If you want to make sure it blooms, start paying it from the month in which you planted it. Use specific liquid fertilizers for bulbous plants, or one that is rich in potassium and phosphorus, following the instructions specified on the package.
