This tree, whose scientific name is Eleagnus angustifolia, is native to Russia and central Asia. It grows to a height of 10 meters; although you should know that there are specimens that have exceeded 20m. Your root system is harmless, as its roots are shallow, staying on the surface. Its leaves, which fall in autumn, are lanceolate, with a smooth edge and dark green, with a whitish midrib.

In cultivation it is a tree that needs frequent watering, between 2 and 3 times a week in summer and 2 every seven days the rest of the year. It can live without problems in mild and temperate climates, where will withstand frosts down to minus 5 degrees Celsius. It is not demanding in terms of type of soil, growing even in sandy ones, but it is convenient to place it in full sun so that it has an optimal development.
