Do you have a pond (or mini-pond 😉) and want to put water flowers on it? Without a doubt, there are many aquatic plants that produce petals of very elegant colors and shapes. Some even emit a delicious scent, so much so that they attract beneficial insects like bees.
Having one or more of these plant beings in the garden or patio is such a good experience that, as soon as the opportunity presents itself, you should not miss it. These are some of the most beautiful.
Cala
It is one of the most popular aquatic (actually semi-aquatic) plants. Its scientific name is Zantedeschia ethiopica, and is known as cala, gannet, Ethiopian ring, water lily, or jug flower. It is native to South Africa, where it grows in humid areas that are somewhat protected from the sun. Its flower is an erect spathe 4 to 18cm long of very varied colors: white, yellow, orange or purple, and aromatic, which sprouts in spring.

The scientific name of this beauty is Nelumbo nucifera, and is known by the names of lotus, sacred lotus, Indian lotus or Nile rose. It grows naturally in much of the world, although it is native to Europe, Asia and Australia. Its leaves are floating, rounded and large up to 100cm in diameter, and produces its aromatic white, pink or white flowers in spring-summer.
As a curiosity, you should know that both the rhizome and the seeds can be consumed once roasted or cooked.
Water lily
El water lily It is a perennial and aquatic plant belonging to the genus Nymphaea, which is composed of seven species native to the temperate and warm regions of the world. It develops floating leaves, sagittal, and of colors that go from green to purple. AND produces aromatic, white, yellow, pink, red or blue flowers in spring-summer.
victoria amazonica
This is the largest floating aquatic plant that exists. Its scientific name is victoria amazonica, although it is also known as Victoria regia, and grows in the waters of the Amazon River (Peru and Brazil), as well as in Guyana, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela.
Its leaves measure up to 1 meter in diameter, and can support up to 40kg of weight if it is well distributed. Their flowers they are not far behind either:they measure up to 40cm in diameter! In addition, they are aromatic.
