When is the azalea planted

Azalea plant in bloom

The azalea is a beautiful shrubby plant: it produces small but incredibly decorative flowers, in colors that go from white to red, through pink, cream ..., there are even those that are bicolor! They are very beautiful, but also very easy to care for, so why not get a copy?

If you also want to enjoy its beauty in your garden, Next we will explain to you when the azalea is planted.

When to plant azalea in the garden?

The azalea is an evergreen plant that blooms in spring. However, during the winter it remains at rest, which is why it should not be pruned or manipulated much, otherwise we could harm it. If we want to have it in the garden, it is very important that we take this into account, and choose the best time to extract it from the pot and plant it in the ground.

What moment will that be? Just before it resumes its growth, something that will happen when temperatures begin to rise above 15ºC. In the Northern Hemisphere, in temperate climates, it is usually around March / early April.

How to have it beautiful?

In order to enjoy it, it is convenient that, when removing it from the pot, do not manipulate the roots too much.. The ideal is to make the hole in an area where direct sunlight does not reach, remove it from its container, plant it and water it as quickly as possible. But, so that problems do not arise, we must first make sure that the soil we have in the garden has a low pH, between 4 and 6, because if it is higher, its leaves will soon turn yellow due to the lack of nutrients. Likewise, irrigation water must also be acidic, for the same reason.

Thus, we can have some very beautiful azaleas 🙂.

      Hello Grmajo Ricardo Luis.
You may not have enough space in the pot. If you never have transplanted, I would recommend doing it in spring.
And if you have, it is probably out of compost. You can fertilize it in spring and summer with compost for acidic plants.
      A greeting.
