When do trees bloom?

Trees are a true natural spectacle when they bloom, regardless of the color and size of their flowers. Seeing them showing their delicate petals makes them even more enjoyable. But sometimes you are so eager to be able to contemplate them that the wait becomes very long.

How do you know when they will? That is a question that does not have an easy answer, since it will depend on the age, size, location, cultivation, ... in short, the plant itself and the care it is receiving. With this in mind, let us know when the trees bloom.

Trees, like all angiosperm plants, they need to flourish to propagate their species producing new seeds year after year. However, not everyone does it at the same age. Generally, genera whose species are fast-growing such as the Acacia, the Albizia or the DelonixThey have to flower soon as their life expectancy is short (about 40-60 years or so); on the other hand, those with slower growth (Quercus, tillia, Adansonia, etc.) bloom later. Why?

It depends a lot on the conditions in which they have evolved and the adaptation measures they have taken. If from their origins they have had sufficient water and nutrients whenever they have needed it, over time species will develop that will have rapid growth and that, although they will live for a short time, will be able to flower from the first or second year of age and produce a large amount of seeds each time. On the contrary, if they are forced to "fight" against other plants and endure harsh conditions (for example, long periods of drought or winters with frost), they will spend all their energy growing and, when they are ready, after 10 years or more, they will flourish.

Still this can be changed a bit: if we take proper care of our tree, that is, if we water it and fertilize it every time it needs it and protect it against pests and diseases, we can get it to flower sooner than it would in its natural habitat. When? During the most pleasant months of the year 🙂.
