Why is it a good idea to have an Aloe ciliaris or Climbing Aloe?

aloe_ciliaris

There are many Aloe that exist, but not all can be grown in the same climates. In fact, most of them do not like cold at all, much less frostTherefore, if the temperature drops below 0ºC in your area during the winter, you will have no choice but to have them inside your home.

But it is not the case of the climbing Aloe or Aloe ciliaris. This plant is able to withstand mild frosts without flinching. For this reason it can be planted in the warm-temperate gardens of the world.

Why have a climbing aloe?

It is resistant to cold

It is one of the few species of Aloe that withstands frosts, yes, weak, up to -3ºC. This means that can be had outdoors in tropical, subtropical and warm Mediterranean climates.

It adapts to living in semi-shade

One of the problems that many Aloe in cultivation have is the lack of light. Often their stems become stagnant, their leaves "fall off" (they actually stay attached to the stem), and they look sad. But not our protagonist. It's more, if it is in direct sunlight all day, it may not grow as much as expected.

Resists drought

This is something that it shares with all Aloe. Two or three irrigations a week in summer, and one or two a week the rest of the year will be enough for him.

Blooms during winter

While the vast majority of plants rest, Climbing Aloe chooses to bloom, and it won't finish until late spring. But if the climate is also mild, it can re-bloom the rest of the year.

It is a shrub that can be used for stuffing

Its stems grow to a length of 5 meters, and they grow so many that the plant can grow to 2-3m long, so if you have an empty hole, this is the species you are looking for.
