Orchids are spectacularly beautiful flowers. Some have flowers that resemble an animal, and that is something that has always attracted a lot of attention, since although they are a bit demanding, Who can resist taking one home?

If you also want to join the »orchiadicts» club, I'll explain how to care for orchids so you can enjoy yours for many years.

Orchids are delicate plants that need to be given a high humidity so that they can grow well. But of course, how is that achieved? Well, it's actually a lot easier than it sounds. There are several ways to achieve this:

  • If you have a bright bathroom, which has a window that overlooks the street or the garden, you can decorate it with your orchid. Thus, you will be providing the environmental humidity it needs.
  • Alternatively put bowls or glasses filled with water around it. You can take advantage of it to put small aquatic plants inside.
  • Do you want to create an exotic corner? Put several plants together in a corner.
  • Take a glass bowl or plate and layer it with gravel. Then put the orchid on top. Every time you water, just you will have to make sure that the roots are not in direct contact with the water for more than 30 minutes.

Phalaenopsis

Once we have the humidity problem solved, we have to think about the temperature. These plants do not like cold, so you have to avoid noticing it. For this, it will be enough with place them in an area where there are no drafts, whose temperature is 10ºC or higher.

Regarding irrigation, this it will have to be occasional. During the summer, we will water between 2 and 3 times a week, while the rest of the year it will be every 4-5 days.

Enjoy your orchid. 🙂

very good contribution, I have mine in a terrarium with my heliamphoras but it no longer has a place to grow and I was thinking of putting another higher terrarium on it hehe thanks for the information, greetings!
By the way, how do pseudobulbs sprout or when are they considered dead?

We're glad you liked it @CARNISQRO.
Regarding pseudobulbs. If no leaves sprout from them for up to 2 weeks, they are probably rotten. In any case, to confirm this, the plant should be removed from the pot and the substrate removed.
