Climbing plants are always an attraction for facades, or even for walls. The problem is that, many times, it is not known how to hold the climbing plants to the wall. Do you have this doubt?

How climbing plants are supported
As you know, and if we don't already tell you, climbing plants have several options for holding on. There are some that what they do is create aerial roots that serve as fixing, such as poto or ivy. These are fixed on the surface and try to provide support so that the plant can continue to rise.
Others, however, develop tendrils or very fine filaments that wrap around each other, which serves to fix it to the surface. They do it in a very discreet way, and you realize these when you see that they have rolled up on the surface, either on a fence, on a stick, etc. In this way, they are maintained not only as support, but as something fixed that helps them to continue climbing their branches.
Finally, another of the systems that plants use are the stems themselves. There are plants, such as honeysuckle, that use these to grow vertically.

How to attach climbing plants to the wall: different ways to achieve it
as there are many types of climbing plants, and many walls (an interior wall is not the same as a facade), we are going to give you some ideas that can come in handy to fix them.
Place trellis or support
One of the first solutions you have is to place a trellis or a support on the plant so that it helps it to be attached to the wall. Actually, it consists of previously fixing, with screws or gluing, a mesh, trellis, support... through which the plant can climb.
At first this will not look pretty, especially if the plant is small, but over time it will be hidden and there will be no trace of it, thus avoiding the decorative problem.
If the plant is small, you should place the fence at the base of the pot or the ground so that the branches begin to go up through it.. And, as it grows, you can add more trellis so that, in a few years, you have everything covered.
This method can be ideal for facades, especially since vine plants are usually placed on these that will last over time (which will not be cut or lost and therefore it does not matter if these supports are placed because they will be hidden). .
through hooks
Another option to fasten climbing plants to the wall is through hooks, nails, rings... The objective is that these serve as support and subjection of the branches of the plant so that it continues to rise higher.
In this case you will have to buy several of them to pass the branches through those anchors and fix them (it can be with thread or similar) to prevent them from falling or the branches from coming loose from the anchors.
Now, this method is more unstable, because we really do not give any support to the roots or tendrils (although in this case it is possible that they themselves wrap around those hooks).

Wire mesh
We continue with more ways to attach climbing plants to the wall. And in this case, similar to the first one we gave you, would be the wire mesh. It is ideal for those plants that have tendrils, since this will allow them to easily climb through the holes that the wire must have and, over time, it will hide.
retaining clips
For interior walls, such as rooms, corridors, living rooms... you can choose to use fastening clips. These can be found in stores and they are very diverse. Most consist of a clip that sticks to the wall. Some can be open, and you would only have to take the branch, pass it through the hook that it has and close it so that it does not escape, or closed (where the clip opens to pass the branch and this is used as a support to stick it on the wall Where you want.
This solution gives you quite a few advantages, as is the fact of being able to take the branches wherever you want, while decorating with them (because you can choose clips of the same color as the plant or with motifs related to plants).
with a hanger
Although this method will not work for all climbing plants, it can be interesting for those that are just starting out, or for those that are small at first and you have them indoors.
It consists of taking a clothes hanger, which is only made of wire, and shaping it into a triangle. The hook of the hanger has to go down and try to put it straight, since it will be what will be stuck in the ground (if you put it from below) or what will be hung on the wall.
Through this way you can go making the plant get the support it needs to be fixed on the wall.
Through "stickers"
Stickers, or sticky dough. They are two options where you would not have to drill holes in the wall and it allows you to "glue" the branches of the plant so that they continue. Of course, it is not for the outside since the sun and the humidity can make it detach over time and then the whole plant could fall.
