These plants inhabit mostly warm and humid forests around the world, always under the shade of the big trees. But you will also find them in the Iberian Peninsula and in the Canary and Balearic archipelagos, in those places where humidity remains high.
Depending on the species, they can be kept at ground level or as small trees 2 or 3 meters high, such as those of the genus Cyathea or the Dicksonia. All of them are ideal to have both in pots and in the garden, especially in warm-temperate climates and, above all, humid ones.

They are generally very sensitive to extreme heat and cold. Taking this into account, its suitable temperature range is between -2ºC and 30ºC, but ... with a good substrate that facilitates water drainage (60% black peat, 30% perlite and 10% worm humus) and placing the plant in a semi-shady place, it is possible to increase its resistance to both cold and hot.
But still, if what you want is to have it in your house you should put it in a very bright room, away from drafts. To maintain a high humidity you can put bowls of water around it so that it does not have any problems.
