If you have recently bought a specimen, or have had it for a long time and have not yet decided what to do with it, in this article I am going to tell you how important it is to remember to transplant your plant. In addition, you will learn to do it step by step, at the moment it touches.

So I assure you that you can enjoy your parsley for several seasons, and almost effortlessly 😉.

When do you have to plant it in the garden or change it pot?

Parsley is a herbaceous plant that does everything possible during winter so that the cold does not harm it, slowing down its growth. For this reason, it is very important that during the days when the temperature is low we do not pay too much attention to it; What's more, all we have to do is water it once a week on average so that its roots can continue to keep the plant hydrated, but nothing more.

As the weather improves and the thermometer stays at a minimum of 10ºC, we can start preparing everything to plant it in the garden or transplant it.

How to plant parsley in its final location?

To plant it in the garden, the first thing to do is look for an area in semi-shade, as this will have a better development. Once we have found it, we will make a hole of about 40cm x 40cm, and fill it up to a little less than half with a mixture of mulch and perlite in equal parts. Finally, we will only have introduce the plant into it, ensuring that it is neither too high nor too low, and water.

If we see that roots are growing out of the drainage holes, or if we have had it for more than a year, it is time to transplant it. To do it, we will follow this step by step:

1. First, we will take a pot that is about 10cm wider and, at least, about 5cm deeper than the one it has had so far.
2. Afterwards, we fill it up to a little less than half with universal growing substrate mixed with 20-30% of perlite.
3. Then we take the parsley out of its »old» pot and put it in the new one. If it is too high or too low, we will add or remove dirt to make it level.
4. Then we finish filling the pot.
5. Finally, we water and place it outside, in semi-shade.

And ready! We will already have our plant in its new location.
