Let us know how to reproduce lavender by cuttings.

Lavender leaves

To reproduce lavender by cuttings, the first thing we have to do is, of course, get the cuttings. So, we will take some pruning shears and we will go to the place where we have the plant. Then it is just a matter of following this step by step:

  1. We will cut the stem that we like the most, placing the scissors as far as possible to the main trunk.
  2. Next, we will moisten its base with water, and we will impregnate with rooting hormones powdered.
  3. Then We will plant it in a pot with porous substrate, like black peat mixed with perlite in equal parts.
  4. Finally, we will water until the substrate is well soaked, and we will place it in a bright area but protected from direct sun.
  5. OPTIONAL: to keep the ambient humidity more or less high, and as long as the temperatures do not exceed 20ºC, you can choose to put four wooden sticks and wrap the pot with plastic, like a greenhouse.

After 2-3 weeks, the cutting will take root.

It is very important always keep the substrate slightly damp. In this way, our future lavender plant will be able to grow without problems. Likewise, if we finally put the plastic in, as soon as we see any sign of growth, we will remove it, as it will no longer be necessary.

Have you seen how easy? Reproducing lavender by cutting is the most efficient and fastest method, even much more than by seeds. Do you dare to try it? 🙂
