El Mastic It is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean Region that grows to 5m, but can be pruned at the end of winter to keep it at a lower height. It grows in all types of soils, as long as it is exposed to full sun or semi-shade.
The only drawback is that it does not resist the cold well. Frosts below -3ºC damage it.
Polygala myrtifolia
La Cape Milkmaid As it is sometimes called, it is an evergreen shrub native to South Africa that grows to 2m, but if conditions are favorable it can reach 4m. It stands out for having very vivid green leaves, and purple flowers which sprout in spring.
It grows in all types of soils, in full sun or in semi-shade, and is able to withstand light frosts, up to -4ºCas long as they are short-lived.

They are native to Europe, Asia and Africa, and stand out for having leaves of about 2mm in length that overlap each other, giving them a very decorative feathery appearance. The flowers are small, white or pink, and appear between spring and summer.
It must be said that it tolerates salinity without problems; in fact, unless the plant is a few meters from the beach. It also withstands light frosts, up to -4ºC.
Laurus nobilis
El laurel It is a shrub or evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean that can grow up to 10 meters in height, but can even be pruned to form a hedge. The leaves are lanceolate, with a very visible midrib, up to 9cm in length. These have been used for centuries to season, washing them beforehand.
It grows in limestone soils, in direct sun or in semi-shade, and supports frosts of up to -4ºC.
