The aubretia, whose scientific name is Deltoid aubrieta, it is a perennial herbaceous plant Native to Asia Minor, Greece, Persia and Italy, it is popularly known as aubrietia, aubriecia or aubrecia. It branches a lot, so much so that its stems, up to 20 centimeters high, can eventually cover a very interesting surface.

Its leaves, gathered in rosettes, are hairy, oblong, perennial, with a serrated or smooth edge and of a light green color. During the spring its flowers bloom, which can be purple, pink, white or deep red.

How do you take care of yourself?

If you want to get a copy, we recommend providing the following care:

  • Location: outdoors, in full sun or in semi-shade.
  • Irrigation: every 4 or 5 days in summer, and every 10-15 days the rest of the year. In the case of having it in a pot with a plate underneath, the excess water must be removed ten minutes after watering.
  • Earth:
    • Pot: universal growing medium (you can buy it here) with perlite (get it here).

  • Planting or transplanting time: in spring.
  • Pruning: a long the whole year. Withered flowers must be removed, as well as diseased, weak or broken stems.
  • Rusticity: withstands cold and frosts down to -5ºC.
