It is a herbaceous perennial that is popularly known as one of the anemones. Native to the Mediterranean, grows to heights between 20 and 40 centimeters, and forms a rosette of basal leaves composed of three very lobed leaflets. The flowers, which sprout in spring, are 3-5cm in diameter, have 5-8 petals and are blue, red, white or pink.

Numerous cultivars have emerged from this species, among which the Santa Brígida and De Caén stand out, the latter being hybrids developed in the districts of Caen and Bayeux (both in France) in the XNUMXth century.
