Horsetail, which belongs to the botanical genus Equisetum, is one of the most successful primitive plants. Why do I say "primitive"? Primitive plants are those that do not have flowers, such as ferns, mosses and our protagonist. Se have found fossils from the Devonian period, that is, about 408 million years ago. One might think that it was one of the first plants to acquire a considerable height -some species could measure 4 meters-, so, being able to capture a lot of direct sunlight, it would not take long to spread throughout all the humid areas that were at that time in the planet.

Today you can find it practically all over the globe, especially in those regions with a warm climate. It's very tough, being able to withstand even light frosts without suffering significant damage.

Horsetail can be planted directly in the garden, in an area exposed to the sun, or it can also be kept in a terracotta pot to decorate the patio or terrace. The only thing that should not be lacking is a high degree of humidity, so it is recommended to water often, keeping the substrate flooded.

It is not demanding in terms of type of soil, being able to use the same that we have in the garden without problems. In addition, it is suitable for beginners, as there are no known pests or diseases. It's more, she can serve as a home remedy for plagues. How? Very simple: you just have to take some stems, cut them and put them to boil in a pot. Now, you just have to fill a sprayer with this water, and voila!
